Rules for
2011.
The object of the contest is to gain as many points as possible, with the top two persons being declared "Winner" and "Runner-Up", respectively.
To earn points, you must correctly guess who will be 'kicked off' the show any given week, as well as correctly guessing 'the other two' of the 'bottom three' for that week. In general , the points will be awarded as follows:
Correct guess for the person to be kicked off: 3 Points
Correct guess for the other two persons in the bottom three: 1 Point each correct guess
NEW RULE!!!! As the show has continued to use the "Judges' Save" option, that is, the person who was going to be kicked off was saved, NO MATTER IF YOU SELECTED THE PERSON BEING SAVED, you will earn 2 (Two) points if you selected the SAVE Option when putting in your picks. However, if you DID select the SAVE option, and the judges did not 'save' anyone, you will LOSE 2 points..
If two people are kicked off on any given week, you can earn three points by selecting EITHER of the two persons getting kicked off. The other two in the bottom three still apply. If you select, for example, John, to be kicked off, and he is not one of the two kicked off, but he IS in the bottom three, you get 1 point as normal. Or to better explain it:
April gets kicked off
John gets kicked off
Sam is the other one in the bottom 3.
If you selected April as getting kicked off, John and Sam as in bottom three,
you get a total of 5 Points (3 for April, 1 each for John and Sam).
If you select Sam as getting kicked off, April and John in the bottom three, you
get 3 points (1 for Sam, 1 for April, 1 for John).
When no bottom three are announced, then 4 points for correctly guessing the person to get kicked of is awarded. However, if a 'bottom two' are announced only, then only the 3 points for correctly guessing the person getting kicked off and 1 point for the other one in the bottom two.
If NO 'bottom' grouping is announced (usually in last 3 weeks), the 4 Points for correctly guessing the person to get kicked off is awarded.
During the finale, when the winner is announced, 5 Points will be awarded for selecting the winner.
During the week with only 7 contestants remaining, you will have the option of pre-selecting the final. This pick is unchangeable and will be awarded if the person you select becomes the winner. During the finale, however, you can still choose anyone to win, its just that if you preselected the winner then you will receive an ADDITIONAL 3 points.
All picks will be done through a link on the website, MacIsIrish.com. This way, no one will know the other players' picks until all are in. If the system is down, that is, it fails to record your picks in the database, an email to dennismcfarland2011@gmail.com will be accepted, and I (Mac) will enter the data into the database.
A cutoff time of ONE HOUR before each of the results show starts will be enforced. No picks after that time. Also, at the time, a link will be made available where each player can log onto the website to see everyone's picks, but can't be changed.
During the week in which there are seven (7) contestants remaining, along with choosing the bottom 3 and the one to be kicked off, an option will be made available to select, in advance, who you think will ultimately become the American Idol winner in 2010. If guessed correctly this week, then an additional 3 points will be added to your score if that person wins. (Note, during the finale week, you can always choose either of the two contestants, and if the one you ORIGINALLY selected wins, you will still get the bonus 3 points even if you incorrectly choose the winner on the last week.)
Mac reserves the right to alter these rules at any time.
